How to do French tips with Dip powder
For this DIY tutorial, our influencer uses Double Dips Perfect French Dip Powder Nail Kit for Starter 6 Colors with Dip Tray Full Kit and Natural False Nail Tips for Dip or Acrylic Nails (coffin shape).
PRO Tip: In choosing your tip sizes, please make sure that each tip goes from sidewall to sidewall. Once you've picked up your sizes, apply some brush on nail glue to the tip and then place it on your nails. Hold it down for a few seconds. Repeat the same steps for all of your nails.
Step 1. Remember, always prep your natural nails beforehand, by pushing back your cuticles and lightly buffing the surface of your natural nail. Next, take some nail clippers and cut the length of the tips. Then, take a hand file and shape the edges of your nails. Also, file over the surface of the nail tips and blend them into your natural nails.
Step 2. Apply clear dip powder.
PRO TIP: Roll or carefully shake the jar around before using.
Step 3. Use and apply Dip Base #2 Essential Liquid from about half of your natural nails down to the free edge. Then immediately dip into the powder. Repeat the same steps for all of your nails.
Step 4. Once all of the nails are fully dry, take your fluffy brush and dust away from the excess dip powder. Then repeat step #3 (this will give your nails a little bit of structure and allows you to change your manicure without removing your dip powder). Once the nails are fully dry, take your fluffy brush and dust away from the excess dip powder.
Step 5. Take and pour Soft White dip powder into the French tip dip case.
Tip: Fill it about halfway full and tap the case down on the table to even out the powder. Use Beige Pink Dip Powder for your bed color.
Step 6. Apply Dip Base #2 Essential Liquid to your entire nails. Then on an angle, carefully dip your nails into the white powder on the small side of the dipping tray.
Step 7. Tap the excess dip powder off then quickly dip your nails into the Beige Pink Dip Powder.
PRO TIP: Between each nail, you do wanna tap the dip tray and evenly pour the dip powder, this will give you a very neat smile line. (REPEAT STEPS 6 & 7)
FRIENDLY TIPS: The more parallel the finger is to the table, the curvier your smile line will be. You can create an imaginary guideline on the size of your fingers as to where to stop.
In case you'll have a problem mixing the white powder with the pink powder, all you have to do is to tap your nail at an angle then also tap it off upside down. This will prevent the white powder from dusting onto the nail bed.
Step 8. After all the nails are dry, dust away from the excess dip powder using the fluffy nail brush. (repeat steps 6 and 7)
TIP: Remember to dip into the white powder ONLY up to your previous smile line.
Step 9. Once that layer is dry, dust away from the excess dip powder using the fluffy nail brush.
Step 10. Do another layer of dip powder dipping into the clear dip powder. (This will encapsulate your French tip design and prevent you from filing off the color.) Once that layer is dry dust away from the excess dip powder using the fluffy nail brush.
Step 11. AN IMPORTANT STEP: Take the Activator #3 liquid and apply it generously to all of your nails. (This hardens all of your nails and makes sure they're ready for filing.)
Step 12. Then grab the small hand file and reshape the free edge of your nails. Next, take the buffer and buff the surface of your nails. (prevents any lumps and bumps and makes your manicure more professionally made)
- Repeat this step for the rest of your nails.
Step 13. Another important step is to take a lint-free wipe and some alcohol then remove all the dust. (this prevent your top coat brush from getting contaminated)
Step 14. Take and apply thin even layers of your Top Coat #4 Liquid, to all of your nails.
TIP: Apply a very thin layer for a smooth finish and to allow it to dry quickly. You can also apply two layers of your Top Coat to all of your nails.
You can stop at this step, however, in this tutorial, she is adding some bling and uses Double Dip's 12 PC Mix Diamond, Rhinestones, & Shapes Set.
